presión arterial
La cantidad de sangre ejerce presión contra las paredes de las arterias. El número superior se refiere a la presión sistólica (la cantidad de presión cuando el corazón se contrae), y el número más bajo se refiere a la presión diastólica (la cantidad de presión cuando el corazón se relaja). Durante el embarazo, la presión arterial desciende hacia el segundo trimestre y luego sube de nuevo en el tercer trimestre. La presión arterial alta durante el embarazo puede ser causada por preeclampsia.
